Mercia Marina opened in September 2008 in the 24-acre Willington Lake, surrounded by another 50 acres of countryside for dog-walking fields, a wildlife lake and holiday home development. In building the marina, twelve islands or promontories were added to the natural contours of the lake thus creating a green oasis for people and wildlife alike. This was enhanced by a £85,000 planting scheme, featuring wildflower banks, reed beds, semi-mature trees and native plants.
It is now the twelfth year running that Mercia Marina has won the David
Bellamy Conservation Award for its work to protect and enhance the
environment for wildlife and moorers. This is well-deserved recognition
for the hard work of the fantastic volunteers and staff.
Residential, leisure, long term, short term, daily and visitor moorings available.

Mercia Marina was constructed as a series of mini-marinas within the 24 acre waterspace. This enable all the facilities of a large marina to be offered but, crucially, fosters the community spirit and informal feeling of a small marina.
The strong community spirit is evident by the many events that take place throughout the year, alongside the volunteering ethic and the numerous community committees.
